Our Most Common Procedures
- Vasectomy
Vasectomy is the most common form of surgical sterilization in the US and Dr. Huffer consistently gets perfect results. He offers this efficient procedure in a relaxed and comfortable setting and gives the option of in-office or in a surgical facility where the patient can choose to be sedated.
- Prostate Biopsy
After PSA levels have been checked, and a prostate physical exam performed, some patients may be advised to have a prostate biopsy. This procedure is the gold standard to either rule out or detect prostate cancer. Prostate problems also include BPH, which can require surgery if left unchecked. In those cases it can lead to excessive urinary frequency, nighttime urination, poor bladder emptying, urinary tract infections, blood in the urine, bladder stones, bladder failure and kidney failure. The dangers of Prostate cancer can be effectively minimized and often eliminated when caught early. If prostate cancer is allowed to grow unchecked because it has not been detected, it may grow and spread throughout the body and potentially be fatal. Many lower risk cases of prostate cancer can be managed with nothing other than a few PSA checks every year and physical exam every one or two years.
- Bladder Issues
Bladder cancer is a relatively common problem which poses a low risk if caught early and vigilant follow up is maintained. When bladder cancer is allowed to advance to an invasive and metastatic stage, it becomes very difficult to treat and is too often fatal. Overactive bladder is extremely common. It can be an emotionally painful problem which in severe form isolates people and prevents them from living the type of life they wish for. There are effective therapies which can significantly improve or eliminate such problems. Interstim frequently provides an effective therapy which can improve or even eliminate the problem while the therapy is active. Cystoscopy is a procedure that enables Dr. Huffer and his team to view inside the bladder and urethra to better identify bladder tumors.
- Kidney Stones
Kidney stones can be one of the most painful conditions that people endure, and in certain situations such as infection, can be very dangerous. Dr. Huffer’s goal when addressing symptomatic patients with stones which they are unable to pass, is to get them to surgery as quickly as possible,in order to help them alleviate pain, remove any danger and get back to normal life as quickly as possible.
